Horse Program

“There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.” -Winston Churchill

Cathedral Home for Children’s Horse Program works to teach relationship building, trust, and self-esteem through unique opportunities that allow every resident to care for and ride horses. The Horse Program runs from spring to early fall, weather permitting, and is an integral part of the school’s Summer Program. The residents participate in many activities and events with the horses, such as:

• Basic horse care
• Gymkhana (games on horseback)
• Jubilee Days Parade
• Laramie to Cheyenne pack trip for Frontier Days
• Frontier Days Parade
• Daily horse rides, ½ day to full day

The responsibility, discipline, and trust required to ride a horse, offers residents an opportunity for needed personal growth. Each resident looks forward to the time they spend riding and caring for the Home’s horse herd, and it shows by their enthusiasm toward the program.

Cathedral Home’s Horse Program is mostly funded through private donations of cash, equipment, and livestock from caring people like you. We would like to expand our program to provide year round activities and would appreciate any help toward reaching this goal. If you would like more details on how you could help support the Horse Program, please contact Cathedral Home for Children at 307-745-8997.
