Frequently asked Parent Questions:
1) Will my child lose school credits coming to Cathedral Home?
No, our school is fully accredited, meaning the credits that students earn here, will transfer to any other school the student attends. Our school gathers all transcript information for every student and determines the credits needed to graduate under either our school or their home school district. This ensures students receive credit for the work they have completed and stay on track for graduation.
2) Does your school graduate students and give diplomas?
Yes, students can earn a High School diploma from the Mae Olson Education Center (MOEC), or they may transfer credits earned here, back to their home school to meet their graduation requirements.
3) My child has an Individual Education Plan (IEP), will she/he get the services she/he needs?
Yes, the School works closely with student’s home school districts to ensure that the IEP process is followed and students receive all required services that are listed in their IEP. We have a Special Education Case Manager who along with; Counselors, Special Education Teachers, Speech Therapists, Reading Specialist and others, work as a team to monitor student’s progress and ensure all meetings are attended and goals are met.
4) Are your teachers certified?
Yes, according to the Wyoming Department of Education and the Professional Teaching Standards Board, all school staff are properly credentialed for the positions they hold.
5) What is the student to teacher ratio?
At Cathedral Home the staff to student ratio in all classes, as well as all activities, is one to six.
6) My child is behind in her/his studies, are there opportunities for her/him to catch up?
Yes, at the Mae Olson Education Center, we are able to offer independent study classes, to allow students to make up classes they are missing, or to move up to grade level in subjects they are below proficiency. This helps students to graduate on time, while also raising their confidence in their academic abilities.
