Student Assessment
Resident’s needs are assessed upon entrance to the program and assessments include:
- Speech
- Hearing
- Educational achievement tests
- Vocational
- Placement tests
Each student's educational program is tailored to his or her unique needs and learning style based on these assessments. MOEC also administers state required exit exams and yearly assessments. The small class size (6:1 student/teacher ratio) allows for individualized attention and instruction, to provide an optimal learning environment.
Resident’s educational progress and grades are monitored and shared with the parents and referring agencies. The school registrar maintains contact with each resident’s home school district, to ensure a smooth transition back to his or her home school, and to ensure graduation requirements are being met. Students also have the option of graduating from MOEC or, when determined to be beneficial to the student, can earn a GED.
