Transforming futures through advocacy.

This election season, vote for kids.

Advocates play a crucial role in raising awareness, driving policy change, and ensuring that resources are available to those who need them.

stay in-the-know all the way down the ballot

County Commissioners

handle Albany County tax money/budgets, represent our area at the state level, appropriate funds, oversee land usage, and more

*for example, Albany County Commissioners decided how our county would spend federal ARPA funds and allocated $100,000 to our Community Counseling program for folks who otherwise couldn't afford to get services

Judges

interpret and apply the law in various settings - read on for more.

*Wyoming supreme court justices rule on matters that impact the entire state. Wyoming district court judges preside over criminal and civil cases as well as those involving juveniles, often these are the most controversial cases in the state. Circuit court justices hear misdemeanor cases, including family violence. All three types are on the ballot this cycle.

School Board Trustees

decide on school policies, budgets, resource allocation/programming, curriculum and materials approval, oversee School Superintendent

*for example, Are you hearing about book bans everywhere? School boards make these choices district-wide as well as set policy regarding school safety, sports/activities funding, and more.

State Representatives/Senators

represent our interests through committees, law-making, and budget approvals at state level

*For example, State Representatives and Senators create policy that impacts every individual and family in Wyoming, including decisions about funding for entities like Department of Education, Health, and Family Services. They decide the fate of programs like Medicaid, 988 Suicide Hotline, and educational policies both through passing of bills and appropriation of funds

every policy decision shapes kids’ well-being. let’s vote accordingly.

ask candidates about the following:

  • How will you vote on measures that protect kids’ ability to access the healthcare they need in Wyoming? How will you ensure their safety with issues like guns on school campuses? What role do you believe the government can play in supporting our communities?

  • With the end of the federal public health emergency declaration last year, thousands of Wyoming kids and families lost coverage. How will you work to prioritize their needs?

  • A recent survey from the Wyoming Business Council says that 60% of upcoming UW graduates plan to leave the state after completing their studies. What policies will you advocate for to strengthen and retain our Wyoming workforce?

  • More than 80% of our health is shaped by where we live, what we eat, and whether or not we have stability and belonging every day. Will you support measures that increase housing stability, food security, and social services?

City Councilors

review and approve city budget, pass ordinances and resolutions, regulate public health and safety, land use and zoning

*for example, Laramie City Council decides how much money the Crisis Center should receive every year from city funds and oversees community spaces like parks, roads, and sidewalks.

United States Senators/Representatives -

represent Wyoming at national level through committees and law-making

*US Senators and Representatives create laws and govern national spending (including dollars passed through to states like Department of Education, Medicaid, and more). They vote on declarations of war (yikes!), relationships with other nations, investigations and impeachments. They are charged with representing the interests of Wyoming people at the national level
